Robert A. Weinberg and the Search for the Cause of Cancer

One of the foremost cancer researchers today, Robert Weinberg has spent most of his adult life searching for the genetic causes of cancer. Heading up the laboratory at the renowned Center for Cancer Research at MIT, he discovered the first human oncogene. He is a world-famous cancer expert, a founding member of the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research at MIT, and serves as the Daniel K. Ludwig professor for cancer research at MIT. In 1997, he won the prestigious National Medal of Science.
