Imagine writing a poem with more than 15,000 lines! Perhaps even more incredible, suppose that instead of writing it down, you simply memorized it. That is exactly what many people believe the famous poet Homer did. Very little is known about Homer s life. Some historians say that Homer is actually a legend with traits from numerous poets who were responsible for penning the epic poems The Iliad and The Odyssey. Others insist he was just one extremely gifted man. Painters, sculptors, and even archaeologists have built entire careers studying Homer and the amazing works with which he is credited.
