Meet Our New Student From Korea

Share the excitement as the students in Zach’s third-grade class learn about Korea’s history, people, and culture. Because of its great natural beauty, Dan-gun, Korea’s prehistoric founder, called the land Choson, which means “land of the morning calm.” But Korea’s story has hardly been calm. Its people have struggled long and hard to find their place in the world. Even the peace enjoyed by other countries after World War II did not last long in Korea, when the north invaded the south to start the Korean War. Find out what traditions have endured in this lush Asian country, then join Zach and the rest of his class in making a Korean kite and preparing a sesame dipping sauce as they welcome a new student from Korea.
